Rampisham

Rampisham is located in Dorset, south England, and the transmitter site is owned by VT Communications (the company’s name has changed and no longer use the word Merlin). The site covers 189 acres with 36 antennas.

Sender S49 and S50 are two identical Marconi 500kW AM transmitters modified for DRM.

One transmitter broadcasts the BBC World Service on 7320 kHz and the other broadcasts various radio services in the 31m band.
 

Photo taken from a helicopter with a good view of the antenna switching matrix building (brown building with 6 peaked roofs) and some of the many aerial masts in the background. From this building there are the 36 feeders going to the antenna field (34 antennas, 1 test/dummy load, and 1 test facility).

Part of Antenna 28, a short-wave Thales Antenna installed in 2002. It is used for broadcasts to South America and the Falklands - bearing 227 degrees.
